Ever so often I like to post a visual walkthrough so people can see the steps I take in my creative process.
I wanted to try a variation on the greaser pin-up girl theme I have been just experimenting with for a while now. This time after the final concept was sketched on paper, it was scanned and recreated using solid shapes tool.
Thinking about Suda51 games and Jet Grind Radio lately. Basic character design based on La Femme Nikita forced to fight etc. etc. I want to revisit this maybe in Anime Studio with a 15-30 sec. short clip.
It’s been a bit always tough to get back into illustration mode after the holidays. It’s not that I don’t draw it’s just time consuming to stay up all night rendering the sketch in Photoshop/Manga Studio with so much to do outside of work.
Trying out a new set of Frenden brushes in Manga Studio. I really like the scratchy feel of it all. Totally going for an Initial D vibe on this piece.
Maybe I’ll go back and post some of the other color renders to this image. I really like going overboard with the contrast sometimes also noticing a trend with yellowish backgrounds.
Finished this late last night. It’s fun but tiring to start and finish an illustration on the same night. Once I get started it hard to stop.
Prepping for another Renuked Labs pitch meeting. Looking at the games getting a lot of attention, I decided to take a step back on the complexity of my recent concepts.
This game the mechanics are based on a DJ operating a record on a turntable, changing the planetary rotation to see how long your orbiting bodies can survive incoming debris towards the center of the screen.
Looking at Corona as a base for this build it would work well on large Apple and Android tablets.
Our companies first app Simply Password has been around a while now, with the recent quick look at iOS6, I wanted to play around with it.
Based on what I saw from the iOS6 live session during the keynote this is just a quick through process on revamping it.

Still making my way through Manga Studio. It’s a fantastic program it really does feel smooth like you’re actually drawing on paper.
Felt like doing some Bioshock:Infinite fanart. I still haven’t gotten around to playing it yet but the team over at 2KGames did a fantastic job with their character designs.
Trying out some Photoshop shading techniques I saw the other day online. It’s really amazing the amount of ways one program can cast shadows and lighting hues.
Slowly making my way through the iOS UI guidelines. It’s really interesting to read what iOS is truly capable with it’s basic template tools for common bars and touch interface buttons.
This concept came to me while reading how the timer functions run. What if as a parent you concerned with the amount of television your young child is consuming.
This app TV Timer just keeps a log of the persons television viewing time. Depending on the settings I can’t see why it can’t be used to keep a timer on the persons use of the computer or tablet time as well.
