On the weekly watch list is Spy x Family. It’s a bit different from what the trailer showed I expected Mr. and Mrs. Smith but it changes up very early. The character designs are really fun pretty much after an episode finishes I have to try a couple of character sketches. These drawings have been on my iPad in various design states just posting what’s kinda done.
Weekly Wrap-Up 06-20-22
Got around to watching the movie The Bad Guys. The movie was very well done and I definitely need to pick up a copy of the art book. Pretty much on the drive home I started thinking about some fanart to draw.
Weekly Wrap-Up 06-06-22
Using my pose sheet I did a couple of Jumbie fight illustrations the last couple of weeks. A couple of the villains names and character designs are based actual folktales from the island.
Weekly Wrap-Up 05-23-22
Installed the newest stable update to Blender 3.1. Tried out some new lighting features using EEVEE rendering. Came across a trailer for a character called Jumbie based on a character from Trinidad and Tobago lore. I really liked the world and had to do a pose sheet featuring the main character.
Weekly Wrap-Up 05-09-22
Cleaned up collection of Dota Book 2 fan art I had on my iPad. They were all laid out in Procreate except the leader on the throne drawing that was all done in Clip Studio. I really want to improve using 1 px pen work more efficient line work it’s make autofilling color layers so efficient.
Weekly Wrap-Up 04-25-22
The other night came across the trailer for a future Gundam project called: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. The character design really stood out and the score really hit at the right spot. I did a couple of rough pen sketches and had to drop them in Clip and clean it up a bit more. Also completed a Procreate drawing for a Draw This in Your Style challenge with a really interesting Medusa design.
Weekly Wrap-Up 04-4-22
Started cleaning up some sketches from a couple of shows I finished watched a couple months ago. Some drawings based on Dota Dragons Blood Book 2 and Demon Slayer Season 2. Also a test involving a rendered material in Blender then applying some addition graphics on top of the object using Affinity Designer. I really need to log in some hours getting more familiar with the Affinity collection of software.
Weekly Wrap-Up 03-14-22
The last two years I didn’t get around to creating a yearly art book. Back in January I took sometime went ahead and finished layout for my 2020 and 2021 art book. Both recently arrived from Lulu Press and as usual fantastic job. Still cleaning up a number of iPad sketches I have done while watching some great animation.
Weekly Wrap-Up 02-21-22
Really enjoyed Dota: Book 2 on Netflix. Studio MIR does amazing work the character designs and direction of the entire series is so interesting to study. I did a number of sketches while watching the season. I have a few more I want to clean up and post at some point.
Weekly Wrap-Up 01-31-22
The boxing robot sequence was all made in Blender but the rigging was done in Maximo. I still have a way to go before I can consistently handle rigging. The plane animation was a project to understand a bit of volume displacement to create clouds.
Weekly Wrap-Up 01-10-22
New Year new projects I collected my 2d and 3d animation works and uploaded an end of the year animation reel. I have a couple of 3d sequences I work on from time to time. While the renders take overnight I still like to put in drawing time on the iPad. One of the things I like to do is draw other artists OC’s some people have such styles where it comes to character design.
Weekly Wrap-Up 12-26-21
A few days before the end of the year. I had a couple of render experiments I wrapped up last week and a few drawings that I will probably get to over the week. Looking back I spent around 10 months with Blender off and on it’s been a fun learning experience. I am on my second notebook three of the most difficult things include sculpting, rigging and the most recent addition nodes. Really hoping to grasp those higher end functions.
I did create my annual holiday card it’s always a blast to do something traditional normal each year. I also do plan on getting back into the habit of a yearly art book and if possible create one from last year. It’s going to bug my having a missing year on my bookshelf.
