Weekly Wrap-Up 5-4-20

Just a few illustrations finished up lately. I was reminded the other day just how great the OP to Record of Lodoss is and wanted to draw a couple of the characters in modern clothing. Recently got around to playing Control for my PS4 it’s a pure visual treat. I made a couple of fan illustrations after finishing the game.

This months character design challenge was doctors/nurses. I went with a doctor who uses his fist to battle viruses.

I want to do more animation but time isn’t infinite so here is a mid-jumpkick pose. I used Marco Nelcor’s sentai character as the reference.

Shazam 07

After seeing Shazam I was inspired to do an animation of his transformation. I still need to get better at frame management and timeline controls in Clip Studio.

Toilet Snack 06

Recently a couple of Clip Studio guides popped up and helped clarify the 2d camera controls. I used this as a final test to make sure I understood the process. It took a couple of attempts but was very pleased with the final export.

Hallway Glitch 05

After doing the original animation in Clip Studio I used a photo of an empty office hallway as a background. I really wanted a glitch vibe so I ran it through a harsh video filter way off balance and added some synth from Garageband to complete the audio experience.

Sentai Punch 04

Really inspired by Marco Nelcor’s recent post of his Sentai warrior “Mango”. I did the camera movement without 2d camera software controls. It was very informative for some future work.
