I picked up a couple of design books and have been trying to figure out a process for portrait styles with a couple FRENDEN brushes.

After seeing Shazam I was inspired to do an animation of his transformation. I still need to get better at frame management and timeline controls in Clip Studio.
Recently a couple of Clip Studio guides popped up and helped clarify the 2d camera controls. I used this as a final test to make sure I understood the process. It took a couple of attempts but was very pleased with the final export.
After doing the original animation in Clip Studio I used a photo of an empty office hallway as a background. I really wanted a glitch vibe so I ran it through a harsh video filter way off balance and added some synth from Garageband to complete the audio experience.
The last couple of weeks I have cut back on my daily sketches. Trying to figure out some animation workflows in Clip Studio. I have been doing weekend studies mostly trying to put in practice what I have been picking up recently.

I haven’t been doing many sketches lately mostly focused on learning 2D camera controls. I need to update this site for a sub-section that will feature my animation clips.

Really inspired by Marco Nelcor’s recent post of his Sentai warrior “Mango”. I did the camera movement without 2d camera software controls. It was very informative for some future work.
Not really doing much sketching mostly going through some Clip Studio guides for animation and storyboard notes.
I did get a couple copies of my physical sketchbook collection dated 2018-2019. It’s still a strange feeling to have a year’s worth of drawings in a glossy hardbound book.

Went through a couple guides online for the toolbar in Clip Studio for 2D animation.
Really having fun sorting out frames in folders. The small shortcuts really save a lot of time in the process. Trying out some background work in this shot.
First blog post for 2019. During my holiday vacation I cleaned up my 2018 illustrations and got them together in a book, I still need to get them to physical print. Besides that I started working on a couple of concepts for 2019 that I want to refine and build this year.

Animation test with Clip Studio on iPad.
