I didn’t do a lot of sketches, busy work week. I did manage to zone out for a bit this weekend and fully recover from this nagging cold and do some just because sketches. After a quick marathon session of Steven Universe I definitely felt inspired to do some characters from the show. The others are nightly sketches that I try to do on a consistent pattern for Sketch Dailies.

Some of the stuff I drew last week. Working on some animal concepts for an illustration project, listened to Kanye’s “Wolves” on repeat numerous times and a little sketch to commemorate the Johnny Karate episode of Parks and Rec. it was soooooooo good.
Every couple of days a week I try to do a sketch with the topic taken from Sketch Dailies. The theme today was Chinese New Year, the year of the goat/sheep. It’s fun for me sometimes depart from my usual style and try something with the look and feel of that region. I looked a number of Chinese watercolor paintings and tried to emulate the thick black brush line look.
Working on a look for an illustration project, I need to find the right look for a series of animals. First up is the owl, looking at owl photos the past couple of days I never knew so many variations of the traditional owl archetype exist.
Working through a couple of designs for a twitch channel some people I know are setting up. I find it easier to do quick thumbnails on paper before quick greyscale samples in Adobe.
Found another set I needed to post of recent pen and paper sketches.
Went through a bunch of scans recently from the past couple of weeks and just decided to post them all. Some of them are from doodles others are from photo references.
The guy in the suit is supposed to be Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec. The joy and pain of pen and paper is no undo button, those owl eyes are quite jarring.
Found a great tumblr recently Flaber gaster tron that covers a lot of clothing and fashion from different regions. I am trying to expand my clothing styles that characters wear.
Another glorious snow day, spent the day filling up a few pages in the sketchbook and ended up doing this piece late into the night.
