Sketch Dailies Illustration 11-19-2014

This year I realized I developed a bit of an addiction to Sketch Dailies. Usually on the way home I think about the character design if it’s really good I start right away.

It was fun just using rough 5-10pt brushes not very complex and it has a simple fun look to it.

Quick Illustration 11-15-2014

Did a quick sketch while drawing some other stuff. I wanted to see how quickly I could render her if I took a couple of shortcuts compared to my usual rendering process. I came up with a couple of tricks I need to try on something with more environment in it.

Inktober Halfway Mark 10-16-2014

It’s been a tough Inktober, in retrospect forcing myself to do this during New York Comic Con weekend was a bad idea. I took two days off and drew a couple Sunday night to make up for the days I took off.

The great part is I am really getting comfortable with brush pens this time around.

Sketch Dailies Front Page 10-01-2014

Yesterday was the first day of Inktober, my goal is to actually make it through the entire month.

The exciting news is Sketch Dailies actually posted my Dredd sketch on their page. This might not seem like a big deal but to me it is. A number of my favorite professional illustrators routinely get posted on their site.

Process Post 08-23-2014

This year I came across a great thought process site called Sketch Dailies. The basic premise is everyday the admin post a theme and artist from all over the world submit their own take on the daily theme.

The other day Baobhan Sith was the daily theme. After doing some research on the theme fyi: it’s a Scottish fairy with feet of a goat that entices young men, I came up with the following concept.

Moon Power 06-18-2014

Sketch Dailies theme the other day was Sailor Moon. I grew up watching it just because back then any anime you could get your hands on no matter what the series, you learned something about the creative process while viewing.

Also it was pretty good for what it was.

Process Post 06-14-2014

With World Cup right around the corner I wanted to do a sketch of a character based on the home team colors. I ended up scanning it and finishing the entire concept in Photoshop. Ever so often I like to post a visual walkthrough so people can see the steps I take in my creative process.

After the image is redrawn in Photoshop, color values are added afterwards a heavily dithered and distorted background image is inserted in the background.
