Weekly Wrap-Up 6-24-19

Finally came up with a fun fan-art design of the main cast of We Bare Bears x Naruto. Last week during the hype of E3 it felt like everyday people had a new theme of fanart to focus on and I went with Nessa a new character from Pokemon.

Since purchasing an Oculus Quest I have been enamored with Tilt Brush a 3d painting application for virtual reality. At first the blank template was very daunting but sketching out my core design concept on paper in a 3/4 view turned out to be a great starting point.

I also managed to fill a couple of pages in my at work sketchbook with some mechanical designs.

Weekly Wrap-Up 5-13-19

I have been doing fan art drawings lately. I follow a number of really inspiring artists online and wanted to create some illustrations that reference their characters. Also I did a couple of versions for this months character design challenge and ended up fully rendering a design that came to me very last minute.

Weekly Wrap-Up 4-28-19

Last couple of weeks experimenting with some Clip Studio camera guides. RIP Lupin III creator Monkey Punch, Lupin Castle of Cagliostro was so very inspiring when I was younger. I had to draw something the night I found out he passed away. I also did a quick fan art for 4-26-19 Aliens Day in honor of one of my favorite movies Alien.

Shazam 07

After seeing Shazam I was inspired to do an animation of his transformation. I still need to get better at frame management and timeline controls in Clip Studio.

Toilet Snack 06

Recently a couple of Clip Studio guides popped up and helped clarify the 2d camera controls. I used this as a final test to make sure I understood the process. It took a couple of attempts but was very pleased with the final export.

Hallway Glitch 05

After doing the original animation in Clip Studio I used a photo of an empty office hallway as a background. I really wanted a glitch vibe so I ran it through a harsh video filter way off balance and added some synth from Garageband to complete the audio experience.

Sentai Punch 04

Really inspired by Marco Nelcor’s recent post of his Sentai warrior “Mango”. I did the camera movement without 2d camera software controls. It was very informative for some future work.

Weekly Wrap-Up 1-13-19

First blog post for 2019. During my holiday vacation I cleaned up my 2018 illustrations and got them together in a book, I still need to get them to physical print. Besides that I started working on a couple of concepts for 2019 that I want to refine and build this year.

Weekly Wrap-Up 12-29-18

Last blog post for 2018 it’s been fun going through my illustrations and sketches through out the year. The art book is almost done so far its around 47 double sided pages, the best part is working mostly digital this year I didn’t have to clean up paper scans. I really enjoyed just experimenting this year and hope to push myself further into the new year.
