Weekly Wrap-Up 4-29-18

Warm weather finally showed up I really want to do outdoor drawings debating on doing it digital or carrying a small book and pencils. These illustrations are from the last couple of weeks I am getting around to uploading them on my site.

Weekly Wrap-Up 3-26-18

Finishing up a couple of outside projects so I haven’t been filling up the sketch pile lately. At least with the last batch of snow storms I have been able to do some fun weekday AM model reference drawings.

Weekly Wrap-Up 3-12-18

I had a lot of fun with last months character design topic: Alice In Wonderland. I did a couple funky designs, went back and fleshed the two I liked the most out with color. Besides that always trying to get the right workflow out for larger scale designs.

Weekly Wrap-Up 2-11-18

Clip Studio on iPad has a pretty extensive brush set but I haven’t spent much time with their pencils. It’s very intuitive to use the pencils really have a rough look to them. I have been doing a few model studies to give a very natural media look to the illustrations.

Of course I did this months character design topic: motorcycle. The funny thing is all month I did a few rough sticky note character sketches and a few days before the deadline came up with a new concept and finished it all the same night.

Weekly Wrap-Up 1-28-18

The last two weeks I have been doing quick nightly sketches on the iPad. I still need to start my character design challenge for this month plenty of time left before the month ends haha. I received a couple of request for small avatar illustrations besides that I need to get back to ink on paper very soon, it’s been a while.

Weekly Wrap-Up 1-14-18

Glad to get my physical art book this week from Lulu.com. It’s 56 pages full color with a hardbound design. Besides that I have been going back to Procreate lately the pencil tool feels much better since the last round of updates. I still prefer Clip Studio but it’s fun to record my drawing session.

Weekly Wrap-Up 1-1-18

So that was 2017 excited to see whats in store for 2018. During my vacation caught up on shows notable mentions to Stranger Things 2 and The Punisher. I sent off the final In Design file for my 2017-2018 art book it’s still super exciting to get the hardbound edition in my hands.

I didn’t do much/any daily sketches but I did complete a couple of larger illustrations I wanted finished for the book.

Weekly Wrap-Up 11-26-17

The last couple of weeks I haven’t had the time to do much. These are mostly Saturday morning breakfast sketches and the small notecard drawings are pieces I do at work during lunchtime. One of my favorite illustration programs Clip Studio Paint recently released an app for iOS is’s amazing. My process for sketching on paper and working on the desktop feels so antiquated. I am going through tutorials and trying to figure out a process that works using the iPad version more.

Weekly Wrap-Up 11-20-17

A couple of recent weekend illustrations. Lately reading up on a couple of design books for some ideas I have. Since last month it’s been strange to at least not get one quick doodle down on paper a day it’s a great feeling to have.

Weekly Wrap-Up 11-6-17

I managed to print a couple samples of my Inktober 2017 art book. Learned a couple of things in the process but happy with the end result. My last illustration for day 31 was also a starting point for October’s character design challenge topic – demon/devil. I added some base colors in the scan and had fun playing with vibrance layers for this illustration.

Weekly Wrap-Up 11-5-17

Inktober – Finale really happy with how this years Inktober turned out. Definitely going off topic at the end of the night with an brush pen in my hand was fun. I am almost done with final layouts to print these into a small art book to remember how it all turned out.
