Trying to spend more time actually completing an illustration. I really enjoy the quick sketch process but lately I know I need to add final colors and render colors more often.

Lately I haven’t had the time to do larger illustrations working on a couple of other design projects. These are weekend portrait studies and a meet the artists meme.

Recently a couple of people have asked me to do drawings of them just quick portrait stuff. I like the challenge of looking at a face and breaking down what makes that persons face stand out. Also the usual late night illustrations.

Finally, I created a ONE PAGE PORTFOLIO. My main website is mostly for illustration but I thought it was important to have a site that showed my html/technical design level.

Super excited my sketchbook with all my work from 2016 arrived from Lulu books. Second year in a row the colors and paper stock were top tier all the way.

Slowly adjusting back to a normal sleep schedule after vacation is always rough. A few nights I started a couple of sketches and the next day I couldn’t figure out what I was doing. That said it really helps to just draw faces to get some ideas down.

Happy New Year can’t believe 2016 is done and over with. The last week of the year I try to organize a number of projects and scan my drawings into an end of the year folder for the annual sketchbook.
Last year my final sketchbook was 50 pages with 18 full color pages. This year its 83 pages with 18 full color pages. I can’t wait to get the physical hardbound version of this book. It’s nice to actually hold something physical that I made.

Above is the final design for Vol:2

Above is a much earlier concept I was playing with

Getting down to wrapping up 2016. I really want to cross a couple more illustrations off the list. Hopefully like in year’s past the last week of the year should be a good time to catch-up.

Made a mistake of waiting for a bunch of sketches to pile up before posting my next batch on Inktober sketches. Going strong 3rd year in a row!!!
October 10th to 21st Inktober collection.

October is the annual Inktober challenge. Every night a quick illustration. I have a theme list this year and flaked on a couple and just did something for fun in place.
Oct 1st to the 9th Inktober collection

Spending a good amount of drawing time in Autodesk Sketchbook. A couple of minor issues with layer color change and 16 layer limit but besides that it’s a dream to use.
Busy the last couple of weeks so just a few late night sketches.

Gathering together my end of the summer sketches. The last couple were done in Autodesk SketchBook. I am not sure what magic they used but the Apple Pencil to digitizer feel on the iPad surface is really spectuacular.

I have a 1/4 stack of inked sketches that I will never get around to coloring them. My art book for 2016 will be stacked. All of these final pieces were illustrated in Procreate.

Hit an art block for a week, rested up and back at it again. I have a lot of sketches that haven’t fully developed at some point I am going to collect them all in a mini PDF sketchbook. It will be fun to look at them later.
