Installed the newest stable update to Blender 3.1. Tried out some new lighting features using EEVEE rendering. Came across a trailer for a character called Jumbie based on a character from Trinidad and Tobago lore. I really liked the world and had to do a pose sheet featuring the main character.

Cleaned up collection of Dota Book 2 fan art I had on my iPad. They were all laid out in Procreate except the leader on the throne drawing that was all done in Clip Studio. I really want to improve using 1 px pen work more efficient line work it’s make autofilling color layers so efficient.

The other night came across the trailer for a future Gundam project called: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. The character design really stood out and the score really hit at the right spot. I did a couple of rough pen sketches and had to drop them in Clip and clean it up a bit more. Also completed a Procreate drawing for a Draw This in Your Style challenge with a really interesting Medusa design.

Just wanted to do a series of sketches based on Sha’Carri Richardson. Her style is really one of a kind and the photography of her hair flowing was truly inspiring. Also a fun Draw This In Your Style fanart for @kuvshinov_ilya OC.

Now that I am a bit familiar with the UI of Blender I revisited using Grease Pencil for animation. I referenced the skate environment and the board. After that I tried to find the interesting camera shots then drew a skateboarder to finish up the shot. Also I saw an awesome OC by @OhHeyDJ and did a couple of illustrations based on his character.

Super into doing some late night fan art in Procreate the last couple of weeks. Yasuke on Netflix was incredibly inspiring I loved the soundtrack and the vibe of the world. DOTA Book 1 on Netflix was incredibly dark and the fantasy designs were so much fun. I had to do a draw this in your style when J Scott Campbell posted his design. Besides that a couple of illustrations based on photo studies.

Spent a bit of time on this F1 car sequence learned a lot in the process. I had to do a drawing in Procreate for the #koteriinkchallenge his character designs are always so different even the line work so unique. Been thinking about hallways and staircases so I created a first person hallway sequence. Making the smaller background objects really brought life to the world. Created a small spacecraft landing sequence trying out some camera control in the process.

Constructed a living room 3D render based off of a photo of an existing house. Created a retro 70’s styled space probe based off the Juno space probe. Also created a couple of scenes based on lunchtime sketches. I really like the process of converting a rough sketch on paper into a tangible 3D object.

I have been going through a couple of Blender tutorials. The low poly building was the last one I built for a training session. The giant robot it based on an 2D-illustration. The robot spider tank was my first napkin sketch to 3D design. Also started messing around with the more advanced features in the video feature “tracking nodes” are so much fun to get tracking points lined up just right.

Part of last year I spent trying to learn a few things. At a certain point I took time away from late night drawings and filled up a notebook while learning the VERY basics of Blender. I originally wanted to learn it for grease pencil but realized I really need to know how it operates overall. These are a couple of early renders after learning the basics then branching out on my own to just experiment. I usually start with a side and top view sketch before attempting to design anything on the computer. I am starting to learn how to approach even the most complex designs by just starting with blocking it out with basic shapes.
