Netflix recently released a new series called My Dad the Bounty Hunter. The character designs for the lead family are really inspiring. After an episode I would usually sketch some the characters doing something. After a while I had enough very rough sketches to go back and clean up the line-work and finish the sketches a bit more.
Really enjoyed Creed III the soundtrack is also phenomenal. I drew these boxing illustrations really trying not to look or think about Ippo a super famous boxing manga. At the office I keep a small traditional sketchbook once in a while after a quick lunch I like to do some car studies. It’s funny after a while I realized I had another series of cars I could put together in one layout.
Just recently wrapped up editing my annual end of the year art book. I need to go back and adjust some images for print etc. Also this is the first year I did the entire thing using Affinity’s Design Suite.
Also because it’s the New year I had to do a couple of New Year themed illustrations to go with the theme.
During holiday break I started cleaning up my MANY random folders of WIP artwork. I am not sure when I will get to my yearly art book production hopefully before spring. Some recent illustrations and my end of the year Blender video collection for 2022. I have a couple of other things in rough render WIP folders but I need to figure out a proper PC build for 2023.
One of the weekly shows I am watching Gundam: Witch from Mercury, really interested to see where it all leads to by the end of season 1. Also recently finished Wednesday it was a very interesting show.
I recently watched Kamen Rider: Black Sun it was fun. Towards the end of the series I wanted to do a couple of illustrations based on some of the main characters. Also a couple of late night Pinterest studies.
In between a couple of projects I have been filling up the iPad with some pages. The artist Gaziter created a fun character and I had to try some pose studies with him. Also a couple of characters to print for a Marvel sticker sheet, some Pinterest studies and a screenshot from a segment from a Blender experiment. I liked the lighting in the alley it reminded me of a background from Batman: The Animated Series.
Some of my social media time is spent looking at fan artists. I love how people choose to interpret other peoples character designs. Lately the artist YoAdrianDK and Rariatoo have really inspired me in terms of drawing less complex but fun styles. I attempted to do some fanart of their OC’s.
One of my favorite holidays is Halloween the majority of the streaming providers usually release movies and shows themed in horror and sci-fi. I napkin sketched a pumpkin person in front of an old creepy house. Over a couple nights I made two animations in Blender to go with the Halloween vibe.
I am a huge fan of Studio Trigger the team constantly does some of the best character designs today. Their most recent work Cyberpunk: Edgerunners really stood out from first scene to the very end. I had to do a couple of fan illustrations after watching it all. Also a portrait study completed in Procreate and some very loose skateboarders’ studies using a basic Clip Studio flat ink brush.
Spent sometime doing some fan art for a recent anime series called Lycoris Recoil. The character designs and clothing was pretty top notch study material, it really emphasized different personalties wear different styles of clothing to reflect who they are.
A another series of fan art drawings. An illustration based on Prey the new Predator movie, another sticker set series this time based on Dance Danseur. Lastly a pose collection based on Kimberly from Street Fighter 6.
