Trying to spend more time actually completing an illustration. I really enjoy the quick sketch process but lately I know I need to add final colors and render colors more often.

Getting down to wrapping up 2016. I really want to cross a couple more illustrations off the list. Hopefully like in year’s past the last week of the year should be a good time to catch-up.
Can’t believe the year is almost coming to an end. I am very excited about creating my end of year sketchbook. So far compared to last year I will have a few more pages.
Lately I have gotten into the habit of looking for a quick warm-up sketch reference on Instagram. Thanks to everyone for posting.
Hit an art block for a week, rested up and back at it again. I have a lot of sketches that haven’t fully developed at some point I am going to collect them all in a mini PDF sketchbook. It will be fun to look at them later.
Catching up on my backlog of summer tv with my iPad on hand. It’s still amazing how much I am still learning about Procreate.
It’s very rare I revisit a sketch but I really want to develop longer illustrations. Normally by the time I blue line a sketch and ink it I just want to move onto the next idea.

Sorry for the lack of post the nice weather and staying busy has kept me from posting more. Good news is I feel lately like my art block has cleared up. I need more time to actually finish concepts.

Super busy lately I need to get back to a more regular posting schedule. Otherwise post like these exist with 10+ illustrations from the last month all on one post.
Still having a blast with Procreate but my drawing time is still the fastest on paper but with digital it’s getting much better.
Lately it’s been a mix of Sketch Dailies late night illustrations and some personal for fun weekend stuff.

It’s been a minute since my last post. The change of seasons brought on a sinus infection which changed over to cold/flu fun stuff. Prior to all of that I upgraded to the large iPad Pro/with Apple Pencil.
It’s taken a little while to get a decent workflow going forward. I still prefer to do quick thumbnails on paper prior. I am a huge fan of Procreate/ MediBang Paint and Autodesk SketchBook. For now Procreate is my default drawing app mainly because I created a thick illustration brush that imitates how I like to ink on paper. Although with Autodesk SketchBook the pencil lines feel 1:1 with real paper.
I still have some process steps to figure out. Below are my Procreate sketches that I don’t think are completely embarrassingly bad. It will be fun to look at these months/years down the road.
I am really trying to get into the habit of sketching something walking away and getting the base lines down before illustrating it. It’s true when I come back to the line work I notice a few errors that would have messed me up later on while adding color to it.

The end of the year is always a great time to catch up with friends and just draw 24/7. This is my last batch of sketches for 2015. I can’t wait to see what 2016 has waiting around the corner.

I can’t believe till this year I have never seen Sylvester Stallone’s Cobra. This film holds everything I love about 80’s action movies in one. Halfway though the film I did a couple of sketches and this one is my fave quick little profile.
I did this a couple of days prior to the new season of Luther airing on television. Next Elba sketch I do I need to grey up the facial hair a bit.
It feels like every year I do a Storm illustration. I guess this is my annual Storm for 2015.
The other day Kotaku posted an article about Nintendo creating a female Link character called Linkel. I loved the character design image they released for her, I had to do my interpretation.
For the month of October my digital work will be on hiatus. I am going to try and complete the Inktober challenge, drawing something each night for the next 31 days.
In the meanwhile the last of my digital pieces for this month probably.
